Scirpus rigidus  Boeck;  Cyperaceae

Hierbas semi-acuáticas que miden hasta 4 m de alto; los tallos son rígidos, esponjosos por dentro y triangulares transversalmente. Las hojas son muy delgadas y se encuentran en la base de los tallos. Las inflorescencias están en la punta de los tallos y son cabezuelas de espigas que miden hasta 5 cm de largo; las flores son poco llamativas, de color café.

Distribución: Ecuador a Bolivia. En el PNC se encuentra principalmente en la laguna Totoras.

Semi-aquatic herbs up to 4 m tall; the stems are stiff, spongy within and triangular transversally. The leaves are very thin and at the base of the stems. The inflorescences are at the tip of the stems; they are heads formed by spikes, up to 5 cm long; the flowers are inconspicuous, brown.

Distribution: Ecuador to Bolivia. In CNP it is principally found in lake Totoras.
